Congratulations to our student who reached 125 nights of home reading this week. Well done! Well done also to our student who reached 150 nights of home reading. A great effort! A fabulous effort by another student to reach 175 nights of home reading. Wonderful! We hope all of our Rosella children keep reading over the holiday break.

Continuing on with our pirate theme today, Rosella used the 'Feltboard' app on our iPads to create a pirate picture in literacy groups this morning. We uploaded our picture from the iPad's camera roll to our Seesaw online portfolio ourselves. We think our pirates look very friendly and really quite stylish!

We are very proud of you and hope you enjoyed your special afternoon tea at recess today with Mr Connor. The awards were presented to our children at today's K-6 Assembly.
Aargh me hearties! Our special end of term 'Pirate Party' today coincided with 'International Talk Like a Pirate Day' on Tuesday! Rosella enjoyed transforming themselves into pirates using the 'Make Me Pirate' app. We did some app smashing, like all good pirates do, and uploaded our newly created pirate pics to the 'Chatterpix' app. We had lots of fun recording ourselves talking like a pirate. Have a look and listen to the Rosella pirates or you may have to walk the plank!

This week to celebrate what we have learnt this term, and also being the last week of term, Rosella held a 'Pirate Party'. (It also just happened to be 'Talk Like a Pirate Day' this week too!) First of all we had to follow the directions on a pirate treasure map to find a chest full of pirate coins on our top oval. But before we could claim any of this treasure for ourselves, we had to answer a 'Pirate Quiz'!
The 'Under The Sea Cafe' then opened where we could buy some sea themed treats. Yum! We also took turns of being the cafe workers serving our friends. After enjoying our party food we designed our own pirate treasure map, enjoyed singing a pirate song and learnt a pirate dance. A great day was had by all! You can see some of the fun in the slideshow below. Rosella's Pirate Party from Sue Dowling on Vimeo.
It's not a pirate party without a pirate song and some pirate dancing! Here is the pirate song and dance we thoroughly enjoyed. Please sing and dance along at home!
Today Rosella enjoyed their ‘I Wonder Who Wednesday’ morning after clues were revealed to the class yesterday about this week's mystery readers. We wondered who it could be! Our mystery readers read the delightful picture book 'There's a Hippopotamus On Our Roof Eating Cake'' by Hazel Edwards today. This classic story has one of the largest imaginary friends ever and it explores imagination, childhood experiences, family life and rules. Since cooking cupcakes is a favourite activity enjoyed by our classmate and her grandparents, and today's story also featured cake, our visitors kindly made some cupcakes and Rosella enjoyed a scrumptious morning tea! Our classmate's grandparents also read the book 'I'm the Best' by Lucy Cousins, a story that reminds us about not boasting and bragging to our friends because we all have special qualities. They kindly donated this book to our school, so Rosella will keep it as part of their class library for this year and then later for our school library. Thanks so much to our grandparents who visited Rosella today and made it such a special morning. There was a very proud granddaughter in Rosella today! We wonder who will visit us next term after the holiday break? Rosella's Term 3 science unit 'What's It Made of' has kept us busy this term and it was time to reflect on what activity we enjoyed the most this term. Here is what we recorded in our science journals today.
International Dot Day is named for the classic Peter H.Reynolds book 'The Dot'. 'The Dot' is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. This story has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the world. To celebrate International Dot Day Rosella participated in a lot of 'dotty' activities today. Firstly, here is 'The Dot' story that our day was based upon.
Please enjoy our slideshow of some of the 'dotty' activities we enjoyed today in literacy groups and developmental play. Maths today also involved dots; we played maths games with counters and also enjoyed playing 'The Subitise Tree' app on our iPads.
Rosella were inspired to create our own colourful dots and we were able to bring our dots to 'life' using the Quiver app on our iPads. Please have a look below; they look fabulous!
Congratulations to our student who reached 150 nights of home reading this week. A great effort! A fabulous effort by another two of our students to reach 175 nights of home reading. Fantastic!
Our welcome poster for our grandparents today proved quite a talking point. We carefully drew a colourful self portrait of ourselves to welcome our grandparents to our classroom. And like all great artists we signed our work! It looked fabulous! Here are photos of our individual drawings:
Here is a video of our four Kindergarten classes performing our song 'Juicy Juicy Green Grass' this morning at Grandparents' Day. Gorgeous!
Here is the 'Baby Shark' song we sang back in the joint Kinder rooms for all our visitors. Why not have another sing-a-long at home!
Rosella thoroughly enjoyed our first ever Grandparents' Day today. Our teachers were so proud of us; we were fabulous on the stage this morning singing 'Juicy Juicy Green Grass' with all four of our Kindergarten classes. We backed up this performance singing 'Baby Shark' back in the joint Kinder rooms. Rosella loved having our grandparents, great grandparents, parents, aunties and friends visit us in our classroom today and the joy on everyone's faces was an absolute delight to see. We shared our book work, art work and also read to our visitors. Please enjoy the slideshow below of Rosella and all the photos in the slideshow are also in the gallery below for easy download and sharing. A massive thank you to everyone for making today such a special day for us.
Today Rosella enjoyed their ‘I Wonder Who Wednesday’ morning after clues were revealed to the class yesterday about this week's mystery reader. We wondered who it could be! Our mystery reader read the beautiful book 'You Are Special' by Max Lucado today. This is a special story that reminds us that we are all special in our own way, we should not judge others and there is always someone who loves us unconditionally. Thanks so much to one of our mums who volunteered to be Rosella's mystery reader today. There was a very proud daughter in Rosella today! We wonder who will visit us next week? Rosella read the wonderfully imaginative picture book 'There's a Sea In My Bedroom' by Margaret Wild. After three readings and a thought provoking conversation about this text, Rosella independently wrote fantastic responses to this story. We also created stunning sea artworks inspired by this book. Please take a look at our fabulous work in our online book 'There's A Sea In My Bedroom by Rosella'.
We had four birthdays to celebrate in 'Kinder Time Together' today, including one Rosella friend. We celebrated with singing, a special certificate and book mark. Happy birthday!
