Rosella have given our bean plants lots of love over the past three weeks! We have watered them carefully and made sure they have had lots of sunshine, so they could keep growing. Our bean plants now have lots of leaves and long roots. Some are quite tall with our highest bean plant being 20cm high! We have kept a diary recording the growth of our plants each week. It was time to take our bean plants home today and hopefully we can replant them somewhere in our gardens. We wonder how high they will grow.

Wow! It's been six days since we planted our bean seeds and we have carefully watered them each day and popped them out in the sun to help them grow. Some plants have grown a definite stem and leaves now, while some are still slowly putting out a shoot. We looked at them closely today and recorded the progress of their growth in our Bean Plant Diary. Here we are holding our bean plants. The page we completed in our Bean Plant Diary today. A close-up of two of our bean plants. These beanstalks will help Jack reach the castle!
We were very excited to plant our bean seeds today and we are looking forward to seeing them grow.
Cup with potting mix ✔ Our germinating bean seeds ✔ Disposable gloves ✔ Water ✔ Warmth and sunlight ✔ We started a 'Bean Plant Diary' today and will record the growth of our plant each week.
We are going to give Jack some competition with his beanstalk!
Rosella have begun our investigation of the life cycle of a bean plant. We placed our beans in a plastic bag and added cotton wool soaked with water. We sealed the bag to keep the moisture in and we have hung them up near our north facing windows to ensure maximum warmth. Seeds need water and warmth to germinate, so hopefully our bean seeds will germinate very soon and we will be able to plant them. |
