Rosella enjoyed the story 'Rainbow Fish to the Rescue' which featured a shark that the fish were able to outwit in the end to save their friend. We painted our sharks yesterday and we put the finishing touches to them this morning. They are now swimming happily under the sea with our rainbow fish and starfish. Visit our classroom if you dare!

Congratulations to our student who reached 50 nights of home reading this week. Well done! Well done also to our student who reached 125 nights of home reading. A fabulous effort!
Congratulations to our Rosella Achievement Award recipients at this week's K-6 Assembly. We are very proud of you!
Rosella are enjoying learning about lots of different sea creatures this term. This is what we have learnt about fish so far.
We wanted these information clips on our blog so we could watch them again at home!
Today Rosella enjoyed their second ‘I Wonder Who Wednesday’ morning after clues were revealed to the class yesterday about this week's mystery reader. Again lots of excitement and guessing was happening! Our mystery reader today reading the beautiful and very moving story 'The Invisible String' by Patrice Karst. This story reminded Rosella of the power of love to comfort and connect us in challenging and very sad times. Thanks so much to one of our dads who volunteered to be Rosella's mystery reader today. There was a very proud daughter in Rosella today! We wonder who will visit us next week? We had four birthdays to celebrate in 'Kinder Time Together' yesterday, including one Rosella friend. We celebrated with singing, a special certificate and book mark. Happy birthday!
As part of our science unit this term 'What's It Made Of?' Rosella set off on a school walk yesterday afternoon. We followed our map to explore certain areas of our school that we are very familiar with. While walking we described what we could see and what we could feel. We all agreed our metal benches felt smooth with some ridges though so we don't slip off when sitting. The painted wood around our sandpit was hard to keep the sand in and also felt smooth as did the cover. We discussed how the playground equipment was made of different materials. The snake had a rough texture to provide grip as did the blue rubber to give us grip when climbing and walking around, but the metal, wood and plastic parts of the equipment felt smooth so we could slide and handle easily. The concrete path leading back to our playground felt rough to give grip and stop us slipping, but the metal fence was smooth. All parts of our metal bubblers also felt very smooth. Once back in the classroom, we recorded where we had been and what we had seen in our science journals.

We braved the cold and wind yesterday for our first sports session after the holidays. Brrr!
Kinder Sport July 21, 2017 from Sue Dowling on Vimeo. Rosella kept reading over the June/July holiday break and continue to do a fabulous job with their home reading (thanks mums, dads and grandmas too). Here are our children who have reached some wonderful milestones in reading this week. 75 nights of home reading. Well done! 100 nights of home reading. A great effort! Here are our first students to reach 125 nights of home reading. A super effort!
Rosella loved reading 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister today. We painted our own beautiful rainbow fish today and we used silver paint for Rainbow Fish's sparkling, shiny, silver scales.
We also made some starfish, a character in the story that the Rainbow Fish turned to for help.
Please enjoy this story again at home on Storyline Online.
This morning Rosella and our other Kindergarten classes at HPS began a special Term 3 & 4 program. It's called ‘I Wonder Who Wednesday’ and it's where parents, grandparents, relatives or other special people surprise our Kinder children by being a `Mystery Reader’ in their classroom on Wednesday mornings. Our mystery readers have to answer some questions to provide ‘clues’ about their identity, and these clues were revealed to Rosella children yesterday. As you can imagine there was a lot of excitement and guessing going on. Our first mystery reader enthralled Rosella today reading one of her favourite books 'Herman and Rosie' by Gus Gordon. Thanks so much to one of our mums who volunteered to be Rosella's first mystery reader. There was a very proud student in Rosella today! |
