A great time at Gymsports was had today by Rosella and Magpie children. Stretching, a variety of balance beam work and parachute games made for lots of fun! Here we are in action below.

Dan, the flying man, not only visited our classroom, but flew over our school! Well . . . not quite . . . we used the 'Superimpose' iPad app and innovated on the text. Please take a look at Dan and Rosella children by reading our class book below.
Rosella were so excited on Friday to have their first session of developmental play with all Kindergarten friends playing together. Painting, drawing, dress-up, building, cooking - the list goes on. Here we are having a fabulous time! Lots more photos of all our Kinder friends can be found on our school website here. Rosella all thoroughly enjoyed our Friday morning of sport. Here are some photos featuring us in action, but please also head over to this school website photo page with all the photos taken on Friday morning of all our Kinder friends. How lucky are Rosella? A friend of our teachers takes the most beautiful, close-up photos of birds. Chris sends us photos of the wonderful Rosella whenever he finds one while he's out and about. Here is his latest one. Thanks Chris and how gorgeous is it? More of Chris's great photos can be found in the slideshow on our blog here.
Congratulations to our Rosella Achievement Award recipients at this week's K-6 Assembly. We are very proud of you!
It was the first K-6 Assembly for Kindergarten today and we were very excited. Mrs Tipping said Rosella had the most beautiful audience manners.
Continuing our work on length today, Rosella read the book 'Chrysanthemum' by Kevin Henkes. We enjoyed the story very much, but we were also amazed to discover how long her name was. Chrysanthemum has 13 letters in her name - half the number of letters in the alphabet! We wondered who had the shortest name in our class and who had the longest. We decided we could count the letters, but we also thought we could measure the length of our names by comparing them visually - lined up against each other. To compare fairly and accurately we cut and pasted the same sized letters into the same sized grids (so no gaps or overlaps). We also made sure we aligned the names at one end on the floor. We discovered Ila has the shortest name and Lachlan has the longest.
We also completed two other length activities today and recorded our findings in our Maths Journal. We compared the height of Grug to flowers and trees and we also helped Grug and Cara judge the longest snake competition. We were careful to put the snakes side by side to compare, always lining up on one side to make sure we were measuring correctly.
Here is the story 'Chrysanthemum' below to enjoy again at home.
Another great session at Gymsports today for Rosella and Magpie children. Stretching, rolling, walking like a crab, bunny hopping, beam work and jumping on the mini trampoline made for lots of fun today! Here we are in action below. In Health/PD this term we have been discussing the rules we have at school to keep us safe and happy, particularly on our playground and on our playground equipment on the top oval. We enjoyed the book 'Grug in the Playground' today and giggled at Grug's adventures in this strange place he had not seen before. We had some fun with the craft glue today recreating the image of Grug on the slide.
Please meet our special Kinder mascot for this year - yes our very own Australian icon Grug! He has moved himself and his house into Rosella's classroom and plans to watch the children very carefully and join them in their learning journey this year!
Please watch Grug below in his very first animation. We loved watching it on our Smartboard with Grug!
All of Kindergarten were very excited to have our first proper Friday sports morning. We all participated with enthusiasm and rotated around a variety of activities in our colour teams. Lots and lots of photos were taken and they have just been uploaded to the 'Latest Photos' page on our website. Please have a look here at what we got up to this morning.
Rosella children shared their wonderful personal artefacts this afternoon. They spoke about their artefact and why it was so special to them and their family. We loved hearing all the family stories behind the items they chose to share with everyone today. A big thank you to our families for helping and supporting the children with this special history project. Today in maths Rosella also started investigating length. We've been using words such as long, short, tall, longer, shorter, taller, shortest, longest, tallest and the same as. We were given a paddle pop stick and we went searching around our classroom for an item we thought was shorter than our stick and one that was longer than our stick. We put our items on our tables. We learnt today that to compare the lengths of different items accurately we have to line them up at one end. We did a great job! We also enjoyed watching 'How Big is the Magic Bus?' with Flynn and Dodley. Here is the link below if you would like to watch it again at home. Do you think the bus was magic?
Rosella were working hard again in L3 time today. They are doing so well rotating through the different activities on offer and they are also working well in the Engine Room. |
