Continuing our work on 2D shapes today, Rosella thoroughly enjoyed the book 'Mouse Shapes' by Ellen Stoll Walsh in Measurement and Geometry time. It's about three clever mice who find a funny way to trick a sneaky cat using different shapes. We created our own 'big' mice using circles, a triangle and some children used a square. We think we'd be able to trick the cat too with our fabulous 2D shape work!
Please enjoy the book 'Mouse Shapes' at home. What was your favourite part?

Rosella loved the book today titled 'The Kissing Hand' by Audrey Penn and we made our own special kissing hands.
We used water colour paints to decorate our hands in L3 groups time this morning and then chose a coloured heart to paste in the centre. Our hands were made with lots of love.
Here is the story being read by the author herself, for you to enjoy again at home.
This term in Health/PD we are looking at keeping ourselves safe at school. We loved the book "David Goes to School" by David Shannon and we had a good giggle at all the naughty things David got up too. (We also read and loved "No, David" and "David Gets In Trouble".) We discussed the need for classroom rules, as well as our school rules, so we can all feel happy and safe while we are at school. Here are Rosella's classroom rules and we are all trying very hard to follow these to make our classroom a safe and happy place to be every day.
Here's "David Goes to School" on YouTube if you would like to listen to the story again at home.
Another enjoyable afternoon session at Gymsports today for Rosella and Magpie children. Indians and Teepees was our warm up game today and we also went through all our stretches before learning new skills. We tried really hard to balance on the beam and hang on the bars today. Please have a look at us in action below. Kindergarten were very lucky to join in the Summer Challenge ice cream recess today. This cool treat was thoroughly enjoyed by Rosella on this very hot day!
All of Kindergarten enjoyed the book 'Possum Goes to School' today in our joint Kinder time. We returned to our classroom to make our possum puppets and then let our little possums explore our rooms! It was also a good chance to practise some of our position words we have been talking about in maths. On top off, under, in front, behind, on, next to - can you guess what position our possums were in?
This 2D 'Shapes Song' has been one of our favourite songs this week. Rosella love it! Turn the sound right up and sing along at home!
We enjoyed reading 'Franklin Goes to School' today and here are our turtles we painted in L3 group time.
Here is 'Franklin Goes to School' to enjoy again at home.
Rosella worked hard in L3 groups this morning after sport and one of our activities was painting. Here we are enjoying our group time. KIndergarten were very excited this morning because it was our first sports session for the year and we all looked gorgeous and ready for action in our new sports uniforms. The weather had other ideas though, and while we found out out sports groups and practised lining up with their colour group, the terrible heat meant we had an indoor sports session. Some wonderful stretching, balancing, movement and exercising different muscle groups was enjoyed by all in our indoor yoga session this morning.
Rosella have enjoyed the big book 'Smarty Pants' this week and wanted to be part of the action! We have also be learning about 2D shapes in maths this week, so we decorated our 'smarty pants' with different coloured squares, triangles and rectangles. We think we look pretty smart! What do you think?
One of Rosella's morning activities is rhyme time! We love rhyming stories and today we made some silly soup that can only contain rhyming words. This is the silly soup song we sing.
Can you work out what rhyming words were needed for our batch of silly soup today?
Here's a hint; listen to one of Rosella's favourite songs at the moment. Please sing it with us at home!
We thought we'd share some of the activities we participated in today during our L3 literacy session. We try really hard and we are learning to move around and complete a variety of literacy and fine motor activities each session while Mrs Fuller and Mrs Dowling work with a small group in the 'Engine Room' teaching reading and writing strategies. Rosella loved their first Gymsports session today. They participated in warm up activities, explored different ways to move and roll, and jumped off the mats while practising their special way to land. Thanks so much for returning permission notes and payment promptly so children can participate in this worthwhile program. Rosella has a virtual class pet - the very cute Jig the Pig that lives on our class blog. He squeals in delight when you pat him. Jig also loves apples and if you click the 'more' tab you can find an apple to feed him. If you pat him very quickly and repeatedly, he rolls in the mud! You can clean him by clicking the 'more' tab and squirting him with the water bottle. If you are viewing our class blog on your iPad or iPhone and can't see Jig, it's because it is a flash file. You will need to use the free Puffin browser on these devices that displays flash files. Visit here to download it.
