We enjoyed time with all our Kinder friends on Friday for developmental play. We began the session with our talk on 'Healthy Habits' - our PD/Health unit for this term. Our focus today was on healthy food and you can see that children at the cooking station embraced this concept and prepared lots of healthy meals!

We had three birthdays to celebrate in 'Kinder Time Together' yesterday, including one Rosella friend. We celebrated with singing, a special certificate and book mark. Happy birthday!
Rosella and their Kinder friends were excited that the sun was shining for sport on our first week back after the holidays. Lots of fun was had by all and we are improving with our skipping and ball control skills. Our science unit this term is 'On The Move' and Friday's lesson was called 'Movers and Shakers'. Rosella investigated the many different ways we can move our body. We had lots of fun playing musical statues and moved around the room in tall and short positions, in a ball, rolling sideways, with all hands and feet on the floor, making wide shapes and also crawling. These movements we found we could control and while the music played we could move around as directed. When the music stopped we had to freeze. We discovered that even while we thought we were very still, our body still made involuntary movements like breathing and swallowing that we couldn't control. Just like shivering when we are cold. We also recorded our findings in our science journals. Rosella kept reading over the Easter holiday break and continue to do a great job with their home reading (thanks mums and dads too!). Here are more children who have reached 25 nights of home reading this week. A fabulous effort! Please stay posted as some of Rosella will reach 50 nights by next Friday!
Rosella have returned to school for Term Two brimming with enthusiasm! We had a wonderful Easter holiday break and we shared what our favourite holiday activities were. In maths time on Thursday, in addition to our work on area, we made a graph to easily represent how our favourite holiday activities rated. Using a graph made it easy to for us to see that 'going to the movies' was by far the most popular holiday activity enjoyed by Rosella these holidays. In L3 group time we wrote about the places we went in the holidays. Please take a look at our wonderful writing and pictures.
Open and closed shapes, lines, ribbons, pipe cleaners and Grug. What do these things have to do with Rosella investigating area? Please watch our slideshow below to see what we discovered today.
Rosella wish you the most wonderful Easter with family and friends.
Happy Easter from Rosella from Sue Dowling on Vimeo. Rosella looked so gorgeous today in their Easter hats. Thank you parents for your artistic and creative assistance! They were very excited to parade their creations today in front of all the mums, dads, grandparents and friends. We had a photo taken before the parade and they can be seen below. For all the photos of the actual parade and the Easter artworks in the library, please visit the 'Latest Photos' page on our school website. There are heaps of photos! Thanks again for donating all the eggs for our Easter raffle. We hope everyone has a lovely Easter break. Congratulations to our Rosella Principal's Award recipients for this term. We are very proud of you and hope you enjoyed your special afternoon tea at recess yesterday with Mr Connor. The awards were presented to our children at today's K-6 Assembly. For all the photos from today's assembly please visit here on our school website.
Today we held our ANZAC Day Ceremony at school. Lots of photos are now on our school website here. Rosella are doing a great job with their home reading (thanks mums and dads too!). Here are our children who have reached 25 nights of home reading. A fabulous effort! Please keep reading over the Easter school holiday break.
Rosella had a bit of fun today creating an Easter message for you using the 'Puppet Pal's iPad app.
Rosella enjoyed their very last Gymsports lesson today. Where did the term go? We've learnt so many new skills each week with lots of laughter along the way. Now it's time to put our dancing shoes on . . . ready for Dance2bfit next term! With our school ANZAC Day Ceremony happening next Thursday, we read the lovely picture book 'My Grandad Marches on ANZAC Day' by Catriona Hoy this week. We found it a very moving story about families and the importance of sharing memories and remembering.
We also investigated the poppy as a symbol of remembrance; we looked at photos of poppy fields and we also looked at some paintings of poppies by Claude Monet. Inspired by what they saw, Rosella painted their own poppy fields in the style of Monet, dabbing their red paint on with different sized brushes to create wonderful textures on their green oil pastel crayon background. Here is Rosella's beautiful tribute.

Another ANZAC story you may wish to listen together at home is 'ANZAC Ted' by Angela Landsberry. It can be viewed in the YouTube below.
‘They’d see a hero, plain as day
Who sits upon my bed. A hero, who saved me and you. His name … is Anzac Ted.' |
