Rosella have their own bunny ears that they may wear while completing certain activities during the day. It was a pleasure to see all the very 'busy bunnies' working hard in L3 time this morning. Later in the day we started working on a special project and here is a sneak peek! There are no photos of the finished product, but you will see them very soon, hanging proudly at the Easter Hat Parade next Friday. Rosella did a fantastic job!

Congratulations to our Rosella Achievement Award recipients at this week's K-6 Assembly. We are very proud of you!
After discussing Easter eggs in maths today we can safely assume Rosella children are looking forward to a visit from the Easter bunny! We incorporated our love of Easter eggs into our maths data work today. We used a graph to demonstrate what our favourite type of Easter egg was. We wrote our names on an 'egg' and then arranged them in a column. We could easily see how many children liked each type of Easter egg. White chocolate eggs proved the most popular. As part of our maths data work we also answer a yes/no question every morning by moving our names in a column on the whiteboard to collect information about ourselves and what we've been up to! What is your favourite type of Easter egg?
Rosella were very clever making Easter chicks out of yellow cardboard, orange paper, pegs and some googly eyes today! We had to complete this craft activity independently during L3 group time and we did a great job. We also had some fun innovating on a favourite song today. We didn't have 'five little ducks who went out one day', but our five little chicks who 'went over the hill and far away'. We had fun singing and acting out our version of the song with our mother chick cheeping and our baby chicks finally coming back! Here are our gorgeous Easter chicks! Rosella's activities in L3 time this morning had a definite Easter feel to them. Lots of word work today with opening eggs to find words to write, following bunny paw prints around the room by reading the words, writing the room with clipboards with words on eggs, rolling and tracing letters on Easter pictures, bilby sentences to make in our work books and some Easter craft. As well as reading in the Engine Room! Phew! Rosella are always practising writing our names and we loved using the 'Scratch Art' paper and adding an Easter touch. They look great!
As part of our Easter celebrations, Rosella have been learning about Australia's very own bilby. We have read stories and information books to learn about this amazing, but sadly endangered animal. We also watched videos of bilbies in action and looked carefully at photos. We painted our very own Easter Bilbies with their pink ears and noses, grey hair and their black and white tails. We dabbed the paint on very carefully and tried to create a hairy/furry texture. Here we are hard at work.
Rosella did a fabulous job and here are our gorgeous bilbies that are now hanging in our classroom!
Here is a clip of two baby bilbies at the Adelaide Zoo.
This is a great website you may like to explore in greater detail at home. 'Burra Nimu, the Easter Bilby'.
A new warm-up game, different activities with the ball, bar work, skipping, rolling and ribbons all kept Rosella engaged at Gymsports today. Look at the fun we had! The sun was shining and Rosella and their Kinder friends were ready to enjoy some sport and developmental play today. Lots of fun was had by all! More photos can be found on the 'Latest Photos' page of our school website. In measurement in maths today Rosella looked at the size of different containers and how much water they could hold. (Yes - that new, tricky word capacity.) We worked out that there is no way an elephant would be able to have a bath in our bathtub at home. It could never hold enough water! We also worked out that filling a blow-up swimming pool with water would be much faster using a large bucket rather than a plastic cup. We also had a think about what would hold more water than our drink bottles and we recorded our answers in our Maths Journal. Great work Rosella!
As we come very close to the end of our very first term at school, Rosella took some time to reflect and speak about what makes them happy at school. The children responded with a beautiful drawing and they also used the 'Explain Everything' iPad app to record their thoughts. Please watch the slideshow below and you will see that buddies, the top oval, brothers, the canteen, iPads and the library all rate a mention!
Another fun session for Rosella at Gymsports yesterday. Beam work, hoops, bunny hops and making letters with our bodies were some of the activities we enjoyed. Here is a video of us in action. Enjoy!
Rosella at Gymsports Week 9 from Sue Dowling on Vimeo. On Friday Rosella thought it was time to start thinking about Easter and we used the 'Feltboard' app on the iPads to create beautiful Easter pictures. We really enjoyed this activity and we hope to make some other pictures using this app very soon. Rosella children shared their wonderful family photos in History/Geography time with Mrs Tipping during Week 6. They spoke about their families and why they are so special to them. A big thank you to our families for helping and supporting the children with this special history task. Mrs Tipping made copies of all our photos and they are now on display in our classroom if you would like to pop in and have a look.
Rosella joined with all Kindergarten children together yesterday for National Day of Action Against Bullying. We had a talk about what bullying is and how at HPS we always strive to be a kind and caring friend in and out of the classroom. We watched 'The Allen Adventure', an app that was developed by all Australian education authorities, working together to create safe and supportive school environments free from bullying, harassment and violence. It is a story about Allen, a young visitor from another planet, who is new to school and learning how to get on with his Earthling classmates. Here it is on YouTube below if you would like to watch it and discuss again at home.
'The Allen Adventure' is also a free app that can be found here if you would like to download onto your mobile devices and view it this way.
We also completed some activities after sharing what we had learnt from Allen and his visit to Earth. We all firmly declared together "Bullying. No Way!" |
