Our mystery reader read the very funny book about 'wind' today by Lisa Regan. Lots of giggles were shared today by Rosella with our youngest mystery reader yet! Thanks so much to one of our 'big' cousins who volunteered to be Rosella's mystery reader today. There was a very proud younger cousin in Rosella today! We wonder who will visit us next time?
Today Rosella enjoyed their ‘I Wonder Who Wednesday’ morning after clues were revealed to the class yesterday about this week's mystery reader. We wondered who it could be! Our mystery reader read the very funny book about 'wind' today by Lisa Regan. Lots of giggles were shared today by Rosella with our youngest mystery reader yet! Our milkweed plant keeps on giving. Lots of excitement in Rosella today with a third caterpillar being discovered this morning. It's a good size, so it has been hiding out under a milkweed leaf munching away for a while! Here they all are:
We all love 'scratch art' drawing in Rosella! Today it was a caterpillar/butterfly picture to draw in L3 groups time. Please take a look at our fabulous creations. Rosella have been looking at lots of different butterflies and we have now realised that butterfly wings are beautiful examples of symmetry in nature. This means that the wings on one side of the butterfly's body match the wings on the opposite side of its body. Butterfly's wings are in fact mirror images of each other. We started making our butterflies yesterday by folding our art paper in half and carefully painting on only one half of our paper. We folded it back down and had fun pressing the two halves together. (We had a butterfly wing outline on the back of our paper.) Once cut out our beautiful, colourful butterfly wings were created. We finished by adding our butterfly's body today. They are now flying at the back of our classroom with our ants, bees and ladybirds! Congratulations to our students who received home reading awards this week. A fantastic effort! 150 nights 225 nights
Well done to one of our students who has now successfully learnt all 40 lists of sight words for Kindergarten. A great effort all year and we are very proud of you.
Rosella enjoyed making a beautiful butterfly sculpture today. We used a stone, pipe cleaners of different lengths, a flower and of course our brightly coloured butterfly. We think they look fabulous!
Here are Rosella's fabulous story stone stories completed in L3 groups this week. Well done everyone!
Congratulations to our Rosella Achievement Award recipients announced at today's K-6 Assembly. We are very proud of you!
Rosella enjoyed this wonderful story below about a caterpillar on 'The Literacy Shed' website called 'Caterpillar Shoes'.
Our first hatched caterpillar is now about 15mm long, with our second caterpillar about 9mm long. Here are photos and some video of them today. Here are some photos of Rosella hard at work in L3 groups this morning. We also read in the Engine Room with Mrs Dowling. Rosella have learnt lots about snails this week. We have also incorporated snails in our maths work this week, reinforcing our understanding of ordinal numbers with a snail race! Here are the latest photos of our two caterpillars munching away today. Our first hatched! Our second addition!
