This term Rosella are definitely going 'Buggy' and this week we have begum learning about insects and the special features they have that distinguishes them from other 'minibeasts'. Today we investigated ants and looked at the specific body parts they have and why they help them survive. We had to learn some specific terminology to label the body parts of an ant today.
After recess we made our own ant, trying to remember what we had learnt earlier about an ant's body.
To finish off we enjoyed a funny song about ants!

Today in maths Rosella compared the mass of two objects by holding one in each hand and using our bodies to balance each object. Lots of hefting, noise, fun and learning!

Today Rosella enjoyed their first ‘I Wonder Who Wednesday’ morning for Term 4 after clues were revealed to the class yesterday about this week's mystery reader. After the holiday break there was lots of excitement in anticipation of who it could be! Our mystery reader entertained Rosella today with the hilarious rhyming book 'Don't Wake the Yeti' by Claire Freedman. Lots and lots of giggles as Rosella discovered how to feed a yeti (you'll need a napkin), how to run a yeti's bath (with ice), and what to expect if you take him to school! Thanks so much to one of our mums who volunteered to be Rosella's mystery reader today. There was a very proud daughter in Rosella today! We wonder who will visit us next week? Rosella have begun our investigation of the life cycle of a bean plant. We placed our beans in a plastic bag and added cotton wool soaked with water. We sealed the bag to keep the moisture in and we have hung them up near our north facing windows to ensure maximum warmth. Seeds need water and warmth to germinate, so hopefully our bean seeds will germinate very soon and we will be able to plant them. |
