Rosella and their Kinder friends enjoyed a variety of activities and had lots of fun at sport this morning.
Kinder Sport May 12, 2017 from Sue Dowling on Vimeo. Another Rosella student who reached 25 nights of home reading this week. A wonderful effort! Congratulations also to children who reached 50 nights of home reading. What a great effort too!
Rosella continued our investigation of capacity today. We watched 'Which container holds more magic rocks?' with Flynn and Dodley. It was then time for us to do some hands on research ourselves. We rotated around tables using water, beans and stones to fill a variety of different sized containers. We experimented with filling our containers to the top, half filling them and emptying them. We compared the capacities of two containers by filling one and pouring into the other. We used smaller sized containers to fill larger containers. We practised pouring carefully so containers didn't overflow. (Oops, sometimes they did!) Overall we had lots of fun and used lots of mathematical language too. Please view the slideshow below of us in action this afternoon. There is also a link to Flynn and Dodley below if you'd like to watch it again at home.
Our special homework is to use cups and containers in the bath or shower; pour, compare and most of all have lots of fun!
Rosella had our first Monster Challenge! We had to read a description of a monster and then draw what we thought the monster would look like. What a great effort by everyone today!
Rosella enjoyed our Dance2bfit lesson today. We learnt another complete dance after our warm up exercises. Lots of fun!
Rosella and their Kinder friends enjoyed some new activities at sport this morning. Quoits, bouncing and catching with the big balls plus bouncing on the space hopper made for lots of fun.

In history/geography time with Mrs Tipping this week, Rosella investigated how families are different and how they are the same. They enjoyed the story 'The Family Book' that shows in a wonderful way how families can be so different, but also have many things in common. Rosella then had to create a family glyph. We worked through each family member, spoke about the colour that represented that person and glued our squares on our house shapes.
If you would like to revisit 'The Family Book' at home please watch the YouTube below.
Well done to our Rosella children who reached 25 nights of home reading this week. A great effort! Congratulations also to our children who have now reached 50 nights of home reading. What a fabulous effort too!
Rosella enjoyed writing about, and making, a monster with lots of spots today in L3 group time. We did a great job! We also enjoyed drawing some 'scratch art' monsters too. Lots of interesting rainbow monsters to be seen! Congratulations to our Rosella Achievement Award recipients at this week's K-6 Assembly. We are very proud of you!
Rosella continued with our investigation of area in maths today. We now know that area is how large or small a surface is. We thought we could easily compare the area of our shoe-prints to see whose shoe-print was the largest in area. Mrs Dowling traced her shoe-print and also helped Grug to trace his. Straight away we could see the area of Mrs Dowling's shoe-print was much larger than Grug's. We carefully traced our own shoe-print and cut it out. This showed us the area of our foot-print. We compared our shoe-prints and recorded our findings in our maths journals. The area of some children's shoe-prints were nearly as large as the area of Mrs Dowling's, but not quite!
Rosella loved our first Dance2bfit lesson today. We learnt a complete dance after our warm up exercises. Our smiles say it all!
